Why Do I Snore?
Most people who suffer from snoring are overweight. During sleep the upper airway collapses and causes vibrations of the soft palate(back of the mouth) which causes snoring. Severe airway obstruction can cause sleep apnea. This is an obstruction of breathing for more than 10 seconds. Chronic obstruction, snoring and/or apnea can cause restless sleep, daytime tiredness, and multiple other medical problems. Sleeping on your back usually makes these symptoms worse. It is best to sleep on your stomach or side. If symptoms persist you should consult your ENT Specialist. A good history and physical exam will help delineate your problem and your physician can set up a treatment plan best for you. This may include weight loss, a sleep study, oxygen and/or surgery.

We are now offering take home sleep studies and in-office surgery for snoring. These surgeries include radiofrequency assisted treatments and injection snoreplasty. Both of these treatments help 'scar' the soft palate to reduce or eliminate excessive tissue or vibrations which may cause snoring.
